Your day against the 400 mg guideline

And that was a made-up day. Yours is one tap away.

Now do it with today's coffee

Three things, that's it

How it works

1

Tap your drink

Espresso, energy drink, matcha, the cola at lunch. Your usual ones drift to the top, so most days it's one tap. Forgot yesterday? Add it anyway.

2

See what it's doing

How much you've had today, and how much is still in your system right now. Add a few nights of sleep and you'll see whether the late one is what's keeping you up.

3

Cut down, if you want

Quitting cold turkey is miserable. Say where you want to end up and how fast, and you get a limit for each day — plus a streak worth keeping.

A look inside

Have a look around

One tap and it's logged

Coffee, tea, energy drinks, fizzy drinks, and the big coffee-shop chains. Bigger cup? Turn the serving up. Something we don't have? Type it in once and it's yours.

Frequently asked questions

What does roasted cost?
Nothing. Everything you can see here is free right now, there are no ads, and we never ask for a card. There will be a paid version one day — you'll hear about it long before anything changes, and nothing is ever charged without you saying yes first.
Do I need an account?
Yes, and it takes about a minute. Google is one tap; with an email address you click one link we send you. The account is what keeps your log yours and remembers it between phones.
Who can see what I drink?
Only you. Your log, your stats, your curve, your sleep, your taper plan. The leaderboard shows you and friends you've both accepted — strangers can't find you. You can download the lot whenever you like, and deleting your account wipes it. Details in the Privacy Policy.
How accurate are the numbers?
They're good estimates, not lab results — real caffeine swings with the brand, the beans and how strong it was brewed. Almost everything you drink is ready to tap — coffee, tea, energy drinks, fizzy drinks and the big chains — you can add your own, and the serving dial covers a bigger or smaller cup.
What's this 400 mg a day thing?
It's what Europe's food-safety agency (EFSA) and the US FDA both call fine for a healthy adult — roughly four mugs of filter coffee, with no single serving much over 200 mg. It's a guideline, not a red line, so one day over isn't worth losing sleep about. Pregnancy is different: around 200 mg a day. roasted draws the line so you know where you stand, not to tell you off.
How do you know how much is still in me?
Caffeine leaves you at a fairly predictable rate. A drink peaks about half an hour to an hour after you finish it, then roughly halves every five hours — so roasted adds up what's left of everything you've had. You can change those five hours if they don't fit you: smoking speeds it up (about 3 h), the pill roughly doubles it (about 10 h), and late pregnancy stretches it to 11 h or more.
When should I stop drinking coffee if I want to sleep?
Rule of thumb: nothing within about six hours of bed. In a 2013 study, 400 mg six hours before bed still cost people around an hour of sleep — and most of them didn't notice a thing. roasted works out when you're low enough again and just tells you the time.
What does the sleep tab do?
You log when you went to bed, when you got up, and how rested you felt out of five. After a handful of nights roasted compares them with how much caffeine was in you at bedtime and tells you what it sees — plus how confident it is, so you're never sold a pattern that isn't there. It's your body, not a study average.
What's the taper planner?
It's for cutting down without feeling awful. Say where you are now and where you want to end up, then one slider sets the pace. Your daily limit drops a bit at a time, holds at the target for a week or so to make it stick, and counts the days you stayed under. Go over and the day is simply marked as such — the plan never holds it against you.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Any modern browser, and you can put it on your home screen so it opens like a normal app. Nothing to download from an app store yet — a proper iOS and Android app is on the list.
Is this medical advice?
No. roasted is a tracker, and its numbers are estimates for general interest — not a diagnosis and not advice. If you're pregnant, have a heart condition, or are unsure about anything, talk to a doctor before changing how much caffeine you drink.
